Grant Environmental Organization (GEO)

Soil Born Farms has worked in partnership with the G.E.O. youth program in Del Paso Heights since 2000. This dynamic youth leadership program at Grant High School engages high school youth in garden-based healthy food, nutrition, science and cooking activities.

Soil Born Farms focuses its work with G.E.O. on healthy cooking activities based out of their school cooking classroom, including assisting in the training of high school mentors. Cooking activities include:

  • Kid Garden Tour Mentor Training: engaging high school students to work with elementary students in the kitchen and garden
  • Cooking with Kid Garden Tours
  • Cooking with health classes
  • Summer program cooking in collaboration with the City of Sacramento’s Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Community Kitchen Facility Development
